Our goals are achieved by working with each student each course offering to ensure you receive the best education possible. Learn More!! Master of Education in Early Childhood - Online The M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education is a 36 credit program to prepare early childhood professionals to be specialists in the field. Classes are offered in half-term formats in the fall and spring semesters, and all courses are online. For more information contact Dr. Susan Casey, ECH Coordinator, at ecap@sfasu.edu . Program Policies and Procedures Online Program The Advanced Early Childhood program is completely online . Instructors of record are certified by the Stephen F. Austin State University Office of Instructional Technology (OIT). All online courses are approved by OIT and each course undergoes a strict review before being offered online. Additionally, OIT provides answers to questions about general computer and Internet issues, SFA email, and mySFA at the Technical Support Center (TSC) http://www.sfasu.edu/tsc Personal questions can be answered in person or by phone from 8:00 AM CST to 8:00 PM CST, Monday through Friday at 936.468.4357. Advising Graduate students are permitted to enroll in classes. Permits ensure students take the correct courses in the correct sequence and are obtained through the program advisor. When contacting your advisor, ALWAYS include your student/campus ID#. If you have further questions, access the Graduate Bulletin-Catalogue or contact Dr. Casey at ecap@sfasu.edu . Degree Plan During your first semester, you will complete the ECAP degree plan and return it to the program advisor. Your degree plan is like a contract with the university: we will offer the courses you need to take to earn your master's degree; you will work diligently to learn as much as possible so you can serve our nation's young children and their families. Change in Major Should you decide you want to change your major, simply contact your advisor, who will direct you to the next steps to changing your major. Steps to Graduating Graduating is as easy as 1-2-3: there is no comprehensive examination and you do not do a thesis. Use the check list to make sure you have completed the necessary steps to graduating: Have you been admitted to the Graduate School? Have you submitted all required credentials (official transcripts)? Have you a 36-hour degree plan on file in the Dean of the Perkins College of Education's office? Have you completed all coursework with an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better? Have you applied for graduation and paid all graduation fees by the deadline stated in the Graduate Bulletin? Have you removed all deficiencies? Graduate candidates in the Elementary Education Department demonstrate responsibility for becoming familiar with and adhering to the regulations for admission, academic policies, application for graduation, and general requirements for the Master's Degree.
